Many of our Impact100 Sonoma members volunteer their time and expertise in support of our local nonprofits.  Here we  keep an ongoing list of current needs of the nonprofit organizations in our valley.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley is seeking volunteers for their Reading Buddies Program. Adults Read with a first-third grader or small group for one hour per week.  Volunteer opportunities are Monday through Friday 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Maxwell Park Clubhouse, or any of our school site locations (Sassarini, Dunbar, or Flowery).   All adult volunteers must participate in a volunteer orientation and go through a background check.  Volunteer orientations are held the last Thursday of every month from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the Maxwell Park Clubhouse.  To RSVP, please contact Robyn Cabrera at rcabrera@bgcsonoma.org or 938.8544 x104.

Ceres Community Project Sonoma Valley offers free or low cost meals to people experiencing a health crisis. Teenage volunteers are taught to grow and cook those meals and learn the impact they can have on their own community. Adults volunteer their time delivering the meals, mentoring teens and many other tasks. Join Ceres by coming to the next Volunteer Orientation on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Hanna Boys Center Auditorium at 6:00 pm. Food For Thought, the Sonoma County AIDS Foodbank, is looking for restaurant ambassadors for their largest fundraiser, Dining Out For Life. Many restaurants in Sonoma are participating for both lunch and dinner on Thursday, December 4th. For more information and to sign up: http://fftfoodbank.org/dining-out-life.

Meals on Wheels is seeking a regular driver (Fridays), and relief drivers (Monday, Tuesday and Fridays) to deliver meals from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, to Sonoma Valley seniors.  Shoppers also needed. Please contact Hunt Sharp, Driver Coordinator at:  707-996-2243 or email hunt.sharp@yahoo.com.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help drive food donations at the Sonoma Safeway, 477 W. Napa St. on November 22, 2014. If you can spare some time between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to pass out flyers and ask for donations to the food drive, please contact Billy Bartz, 707.523.7900, ext. 127, or email at wbartz@refb.org.

The Sonoma County Parks Foundation is recruiting for a new board member from the Sonoma Valley. This is an exciting time for local county parks, with a new Sonoma Valley trail in the works and upcoming expansions to Sonoma Valley Regional Park in Glen Ellen. The Sonoma Valley Historical Society needs volunteers to serve as docents at the Depot Park Museum – perfect for all of you history buffs.  Other needs include clerical, marketing, and general maintenance help.  Contact Sandi Hansen at 938-1782 or sshansen@sonic.net.

Sonoma Valley Teen Services is looking for volunteers on Mondays and/or Fridays, 2:30 – 4:30 pm to supervise and coach the teens who work at the No Name Café on the school campus. Please email Pat Coleman, volunteer manager, pat.svts@gmail.com.
