GRANT INFORMATION

Impact100 Sonoma has two annual grant award programs: one $100,000 Impact Grant (and Impact Grant Finalist awards of $10,000), and approximately ten Community Grants of $5,000 to $20,000. In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Impact100 Sonoma will award a special, one-time grant of $50,000 in 2019.

Below are brief summaries of the rules and processes.  For detailed information, use the links to the left.

$100,000 Impact Grant
The Impact Grant does not need to align to a particular focus area. We invite applicants to submit a proposal that best serves their target community. The $100,000 Impact Grant can be spent over three years.  Each proposal will be reviewed as described below.

$50,000 10th Anniversary Grant

In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Impact100 Sonoma will award a special, one-time grant of $50,000 in 2019.  This grant is open to any organization eligible to apply for a Community Grant or the Impact Grant. The proposal can be for a capital grant or a program grant.

Community Grants
There are two types of Community Grants: Capital and Program. Awards are between $5,000 and $20,000 in both categories. An acknowledgement of all partners and collaborators in the project/program is required as part of the application.

Capital
Community Capital Grants will be awarded for any capital item or capital-intensive project an organization wishes to implement to enhance its operations or improve its programs/services. We do not support capital or endowment campaigns. (A capital expenditure is an asset that the nonprofit intends to hold and derive benefit from for a period of at least one year, and that the organization depreciates or amortizes over the asset's expected life.)

Program
A Community Program Grant can fund an existing program, expansion of an existing program, or a new program/project. Included are grants for planning or collaboration as well as for testing a new idea or a proven successful program.  Community Program Grants are to be spent over 12 months. A Community Program Grant application can fund a short-term project or can provide critical pilot data necessary to support a proposal for the $100,000 Impact Grant in the following grant year. We encourage you to “think outside the box” as to how to enhance your programs.

Review Process

Impact Grants
Applications will be assigned to an Impact Grant Review Committee for review. The vetting process within each committee is consistent: review of Letter of Inquiry (LOI), review of the financials by the Financial Review Committee, review of full proposals, and site visits. At the end of this process, the combined committees will meet to select a slate of 2-5 finalists to present to the entire membership for their vote.
