Happy Birthday Impact100 Sonoma!

Impact100 celebrates its fifth anniversary!

The Impact100 Annual Summer Garden Party, held on August 9th at the home of Cherie Hughes, posed a perfect setting and opportunity for a dual milestone celebration.  With the best-attended garden gathering to date, an estimated 125 members and their guests raised their glasses to toast the five-year anniversary of the organization and to celebrate its projected “$1 million-dollar-plus” record of community-giving in June 2015.

FoundersCo-Founders Annette Lomont and Christine Dohrmann were on hand to add their perspectives.  Both expressed amazement at how successful the organization has been in such a short period of time.  Clearly the achievements demonstrate the power of  a women’s giving circle and the amazing volunteer spirit of our members.  Such collective-giving maximizes community benefit and enables local nonprofits to do what they do best.

As one of the two women who envisioned an Impact100 in Sonoma and who helped nurture the organization from its inception, Christine exclaimed that Impact’s growth and giving achievements have exceeded her “wildest expectations.”   To date, Impact100 Sonoma has awarded 41 grants totaling $929,000 and counts over 200 in its current membership.

Founding Member Mollie Collins added that “the grant money is almost a byproduct of the process,” emphasizing that Impact100 also provides opportunities for nonprofits to discuss best practices, envision an even more “perfect” Sonoma, and find pathways for collaboration.

Just before the cutting of the birthday cake, attendees also learned of Impact100’s plans to celebrate surpassing the $1 Million milestone.  Various activities are planned throughout the year and include a series of Impact Profiles featuring each of the nonprofits funded by Impact100 since its inception, a new video component, and a $1 Million Celebration party to say “Thanks a Million” to the members and sponsors of Impact100 Sonoma and to the non-profit community and those in Sonoma Valley whose contributions have helped make the $1 Million+ giving possible.

Updates on the Thanks a Million activities and celebration are available in the Members’ Portal.  We all have much to celebrate!
