La Luz credits Impact100 Sonoma — for County Grant!!

La Luz Center, recipient of last year’s $100,000 major grant, is pleased to announce they have now been awarded a County grant that will, hopefully, allow them to complete the remodel project engendered by Impact100 Sonoma and make many additional changes allowing us to better serve the many children that also come to La Luz with their parents.

This new, one-time strategic capital investment grant of $171, 138 comes from First 5 Sonoma County, a program created to promote, support and optimize early childhood development—for prenatal children to age 5—and their families.

“Impact100 Sonoma gave us the seed money for this project by understanding our need to provide privacy and dignity for our clients,” says La Luz Executive Director Juan Hernandez.  “We were motivated to look beyond our critical daily needs and visualize a facility better equipped to serve our clients.  This First 5 grant will allow us to undertake a much-needed remodel of our facility, but careful consideration of all aspects of this project are going to take a little more time.”

“We are extremely grateful to Impact100 and to Sonoma County for these significant grants” said Mr. Hernandez.

The mission of La Luz is to empower its community through education, leadership and self-advocacy.
